Castle of Aunqueospese close to Avila is an example of a European mountain castle, with strong walls adapted to the rocky terrain in which it sits, of unknown origin and is mentioned in documents of the eleventh and twelfth centuries as a center of various warlike expeditions and reconquest against the Muslims. The time of its completion is known, by Esteban Dávila, in the 16th century.
