Lignite mine Bilina is the deepest surface coal mine in Czech republic. It´s depth is about 200m and bottom is nearly at the sea level. Coal mining persists here for 150 years. Original coal mine, named Maxim Gorkij, gives about 10 millions tons of coal every year. Mining area is about 18km2 and coal supply thickness is 35m. Reserves are counted till 2055 year. Most of coal is used in Ledvice power station, located in neighbourhood. Nowadays the spoil banks of mine are in restoration process, include the greatest one – Radovesice spoil bank, where 4 villages must be ruined to store spoil.
