Located in the bay of Morlaix (North Brittany) the Chateau du Taureau (Bull’s castle) got it name from the rock it was built upon. The place was financed by the citizens of the city of Morlaix after their city was taken by surprise and devastated by English troops. The place was subsequently fortified (improved) by Vauban (Louis XIV war minister) and acted as an efficient  deterrent against the Royal navy, preventing further incursions by the English troops to the rich merchant city of Morlaix. Now fully renovated the castle can be visiting during summer time.
