Hi, isn´t easy to do follow me but it's possíble, I still flight with my Parrot Disco, let's go forward, be welcome…
If you fly the drone further down then the disco will stay in the field of view even when starting.
Great effort. Perhaps future versions of AT will let you succeed.
I like that field, what city is that? Our flying fields in North Texas are all clauster phobic and too official. Can't really walk onto the field.
The tracking seems ok like you say but I can see it easily loosing track in various angles and lighting conditions, perhaps with the faster gimbal settings and some temporary markings (tape?) on the upper wings it may just work?
Awesome effort! But why don't you try to start the tracking of the Disco with the Mavic aiming the launch at an angle (say, 35 or 45 degrees facing upwind towards the launch direction)? Also you could try instead of placing the Disco in the middle of the frame, place it on the rightmost area of the shot, thus taking advantage of the widescreen format, giving the Mavic a bit more time to catch up with the disco. One third option is to start the tracking process while airborne and flying in a straight line (tip: reduce the speed of the disco's flight plan by clicking and holding your finger between two straigt points. Cheers mate!
I would think that having the mavic lower in altitude to start with and having the disco lower in the frame may help. This may help with the slow gimbal speed. I think you can do it but it will take some time to get everything just right! Good Luck with it! Looking forward to your progress.
I tried it, mavic lost it on takeoff and wouldn't speed to up enough to keep up even at idle throttle on disco. I think it tracks ground objects better
