You can hire a helicopter to take you over Katherine Gorge, or you can send a drone to gawk at this stunning landscape on your behalf. Nitmiluk National Park consists of 13 gorges separated by waterfalls or rapids, which the Katherine River has carved into age-old sandstone. The gorges and the surrounding landscape have great ceremonial significance to the local Jawoyn people, who are custodians of Nitmiluk National Park. In Jawoyn, Nitmiluk means “place of the cicada dreaming”. This video was taken during the rainy season, when the waters are high and boat and swimming access to the gorges is limited.
