It is a great teacher - imparting patience, maturity and an appreciation of the smaller things in life. In some ways, it is an excuse - one to be present at the beach looking at the last rays of the sun with the waves lapping at my feet, or to be standing at a high place looking out at the city lights in the middle of the night.
