This is one of my favourite shot: the unachieved walled city by Vauban. One of the two masterpieces by Vauban in France (alongide Neuf Brisach, see my other shot). The shape of this mountain fortified town can only be revealed when seen from above. Shot was taken at sun rise around 6am in summer time (late july): this is the time to reveal the fortress architecture and layout when the shadows enhance the wall and ditches. A place worth to visit (located in the Hautes Alpes near Briançon).
