Parga night in Greece – full of fireworks

On August 15, the \"varcarola\" revived a custom that represents the return of the people of Parga and the Sacred Heirlooms to the free city of Parga, since, according to the history of the city, the inhabitants abandoned Parga when they were sold by the English to Ali Pasha in 1819. Two rows of boats from the castle and the Pavoukes, decorated with Venetian lanterns, arrive at the harbor where a crowd of people welcomes them with celebrations and fireworks.
