Pontigny abbey was a cistercian abbey founded in 1114 in north Burgundy. Unlike its sister, Cluny, the abbay chruch has not been dismantled during the French revolution making this site a must see place. This huge church stands alone in the countryside (and was surrounded by sunflowers when I went there!). It is a good spot for a break when driving South: it is only 15mn away from the A6 motorway.
