With late March approaching in central Minnesota, ice on Prior Lake is finally starting to show signs of retreating for the season. Near the shore the first signs of open water have appeared while all across the lake fissures radiate from a number of locations – breakup is not far.

Two months ago I did a similar film “Prior Lake” from the same location and at sunset. Noticeable is the change in sun position at the horizon which has migrated well north, shifting about 10 degrees. Filmed the day before Palm Sunday, the absolute wonder of the land comes to life in anticipation of Easter.

Filmed with a DJI Phantom Vision 2+, edited with and color graded with Sony Vegas. The majority of this film was shot in fully autonomous, hands-off mode while other portions with full piloting controls. Flown within visual flight ranges, with winds gusting to 20 mph, max altitude 360ft AGL. Music by One Hundred Years , “Infinity”, courtesy of the Music Bed.
