The Monument to the Revolution is a landmark and monument commemorating the Mexican Revolution. It is located in Republic Square (Spanish: Plaza de la República) which divides Revolution Avenue between the avenues Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida de los Insurgentes in downtown Mexico City. Construction began in 1910 and finished in 1938. Considered the tallest triumphal arch in the world, it stands 67 metres (220 ft) in height.
The open building was designed by Carlos Obregón Santacilia in an eclectic Art Deco and Mexican socialist realism style, over the existing cupola structure of the cancelled Palacio Legislativo Federal (Federal Legislative Palace) by Émile Bénard.
The structure also functions as a mausoleum for the heroes of the Mexican Revolution of 1910, Francisco "Pancho" Villa, Francisco I. Madero, Plutarco Elías Calles, Venustiano Carranza, and Lázaro Cárdenas.
On December 4, 2011 Britney Spears performed a free concert at the Monument to the Revolution as a part of her Femme Fatale Tour in front of 100,000 people.
