The acropolis of Lindo is located on a hill overlooking the sea 116 m high. In its space there was the Doric temple of Atena Lindia from the 4th century BC. On the bases of the statues that adorned its interior were found epigraphs of the artists who executed them. In an ancient epigraphic text we read the inventory of the offerings and epiphanies of the goddess.
The castle of Lindo also lies on the site of the ancient acropolis. It was rebuilt by the Knights of Rhodes in the 14th century and rebuilt at the time of Italian rule from 1912-1947. At the top of the access ladder there is a relief depicting a ship on which rested the statue of Admiral Agesandro di Mikion, by Pitocrito, the artist who created the Nike of Samothrace exhibited at the Louvre museum. Inside there is a vast courtyard with three cisterns, the remains of a Byzantine church dedicated to St. John. Here are also some columns from the 3rd century BC which were part of the vast stoà of the Hellenistic period, a model taken up in various areas of central Italy following the spread of Hellenistic culture after the Roman conquest of the area. An example is the Hellenistic-Roman sanctuary present in the La Cuma archaeological area in Monte Rinaldo.
