Four years before this image was captured as multiple wildfires were raging across southern Colorado, the East Peak Fire burned though almost 14,000 acres on the northern slopes of the mountain and destroyed 17 buildings. Flames reached up to 150 feet high when the fire raged across the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch. More than 600 personnel were fighting this fire during the last week of June 2013.
This aerial photo shows a very different picture this year, and we are thankful for the spring snow and rain that have made everything so green and lush.
Still burned but no longer blackened.
