Gold was first discovered in Nivloc in 1907. The name Nivloc is from the name of one of the first mine owners, Colvin, spelled backward. In 1937, Desert Silver Inc. constructed a large mill and worked the mine until 1943. The mine was closed during World War II and has experienced intermittent operation since. The mine is currently owned by International Millennium Mining Corp. in Canada.
