The Valley of Stones Nature Reserve, Dorset. This valley shows Celtic and Saxon agricultural boundaries as well as barrows and tumuli. there is also an outline of a Roman camp. This unique valley is un-spoilt grazing land and has many rare plant and insect species. The stones are large silicified sandstone boulders called Sarsens exposed and left from the last Ice Age. Some of these were rearranged in Iron Age times to use has animal pounds.
