the washing machine is a term spoken among open water swimmers, it is when there is so many people swimming in a small area where it turns the water violently and changes color of the water and this race in San Diego due to the close proximity that the beach makes everyone swim on the way out of the cove it really show off “the washing machine” taken from above. 200 people stand on the beach, and at the sound of the gun they all rush into water to swim in a 3 mile ocean race. in the top 3 open water races in the untied states is the la jolla rough water swim. it was a beautiful day you can even see the bottom of the ocean in the entire picture the visibility was amazing.
